Norway has a long and exciting past involving a history of discovery and exploration, but it’s the variety of scenic beauty that remains Norway’s trump card. Get ready for a region of rare beauty, feted for its breath-taking fjords, spectacular waterfalls, forests, mountains and glaciers, formed during the last Ice Age. Its charming old wooden towns and old stave churches imbue a rustic charm. It’s a place of otherworldly experiences where the winter northern lights beguile the visitor while the sun refuses to set for the whole summer. Throw in the friendly inhabitants who share a lively cultural scene, and it’s easy to see why Norway has become one of Europe’s most popular destinations.

Follow in the footsteps of the Vikings, as you uncover the innovative spirit, natural beauty and rich culture of Scandinavia. You’ll learn about its nautical heritage during a private canal cruise in colourful Gothenburg, appreciate cutting-edge architecture in pristine cities such as Copenhagen and stand in awe of deep and magnificent fjords. This legendary journey beautifully blends bold tales of the past with slick contemporary design and outstanding natural gems.
Norway’s capital city, Oslo, offers everything from historic treasures such as the 13th century Akershus Fortress, the Viking Ship Museum and Oslo City Museum, to the ultimate in cutting edge culture including the striking Vigelandsparken sculpture park and the ultra-modern Norwegian Opera and Ballet House. Beyond Oslo, make time to explore ancient Lillehammer and Hamar, which offer plenty of cathedral ruins, museums and Winter Olympics remnants. For a real taste of Norway, don’t miss the brightly painted timber-clad buildings of Bergen (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the breath-taking scenery of the Sognefjord which features the second longest fjord in the world, or the incredible waterfalls of the Geirangerfjord either. They’re all testament to the constant beauty of the awe-inspiring nation of Norway and are best enjoyed from up above on the cloud skimming Flam railway, which sits at over 3,000 feet above sea level!
Norway has a rich culture, which is often celebrated in traditional song and costume-wearing, especially on the biggest public holiday, Constitution Day, on 17th May. On Midsummer's Eve, usually on 23rd June, celebrations are held on the beaches. The main Sami celebrations are at Easter, and include reindeer racing, and traditional concerts.
