Sustainability & Conservation

Together with the The Travel Corporation (TTC), we are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our business and safeguarding the future of our planet. That's why we are taking steps to eliminate single-use plastics in our operations, reduce our footprint by offering e-documents to our guests (and planting a tree in their name if they select this option), and ensure that our modes of transportation are as efficient and eco-friendly as possible.

Our Climate Action Plan

Goals #1 and #2 of our sustainability strategy, How We Tread Right (HWTR) respectively commit to becoming carbon neutral by 2030 or sooner, and to ensuring that 50% of our electricity is secured from renewable sources by 2025. To ensure we are successful, we’ve built a Climate Action Plan. Our five-point plan will help us manage the carbon footprint of our business and trips, and prioritizes reducing and removing emissions ahead of offsetting. In addition, we commit to learning and adapting as technology and innovation help us in our transition to a low-carbon business.

Our plan builds on progress made to date and evaluates how we become a part of the global effort to reach net-zero emissions by mid-century, as outlined by the International Panel on Climate Change.

Beginning in 2022, all our offices and employee air business travel will be offset as part of our Climate Action Plan. In partnership with our carbon offset provider, South Pole, we will compensate these emissions by investing in a verified forest conservation offset project in Victoria, Australia.

Sustainability for Survival

Story by Céline Cousteau, Documentary Filmmaker

Celine's portrait.

Leading environmentalist and explorer, Céline has been highlighting various sustainable travel topics and showcasing amazing projects helping to protect ecosystems all over the world through her films. She has been TreadRight’s Planet Ambassador since 2015.

I believe that the travel industry has tremendous potential for positive impact. From the companies that provide journeys, to the hotels and dining experiences, there are opportunities to become more sustainable and enable travellers to make better choices.

I encourage people to hear the stories of local projects, discover what different communities are doing to protect our planet. If you can get involved and understand what people are doing, you can see where we, as humans can make a difference.

There are many things that you can do to make a difference when you travel. The number one thing I tell people is: don’t use single use plastic. If possible, bring your own refillable bottles and sustainable cutlery so that you can reduce the amount of waste left behind. Then you don’t need to think of how it’s disposed – you have broken that part of the chain.

I encourage people to hear the stories of local projects, discover what different communities are doing to protect our planet. If you can get involved and understand what people are doing, you can see where we, as humans can make a difference.

We use e-docs for a greener future: Your documents will be delivered electronically in PDF format 2-3 weeks prior to departure. Thanks to travelling paper free, you’re supporting our sustainability efforts to reduce our environmental impact wherever possible.

Why Go Coach?

Coach travel has been proven to reduce congestion and create less pollution per passenger kilometre than any other form of transport. Coach travel creates approximately 85% less CO2 per passenger kilometre than car and air travel, and nearly 40% less CO2 per passenger kilometre than rail travel.

The Luxury Gold coach fleet is among the most efficient in Europe, complying with EU emissions standards. Over the past two decades EU emissions standards have made it so that Euro Emissions 6 registered vehicles create up to 97% less particulate emissions and 95% less nitrogen oxide emissions than those vehicles meeting previous Euro Emissions standards.

Our Carbon Footprint

At Luxury Gold, we are conscious of our carbon footprint and have made a commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 or sooner. To achieve this, we are measuring the emissions associated with our owned offices and properties, as well as those associated with our business air travel, and waste and water use. We have in place a carbon management plan to drawdown our direct emissions before offsetting unavoidable emissions with high-quality, verified carbon offsets. We will drawdown our emissions through clean energy, low-emission transportation, conservation and through the support of emerging low-impact technologies.

Luxury Gold is in the process of measuring the carbon footprint of our trips with the goal of offsetting these trips in future years. Stay tuned for more!

Carbon Offsets

Luxury Gold has partnered with leading offset provider South Pole to offset our business, allowing us to offset what we cannot reduce. You too can purchase carbon offsets to cancel out the emissions produced by your travels. South Pole has 700+ high quality, and verifiable offset projects to choose from around the world.
