Trip: The particular tour required a lot of driving between cities. I think Insight Vacations did a good job considering the time required on the bus.

Service: The customer service was good but the tour director was very unsatisfactory. He knew his material but was very terse to a number of guests. He had his own way of rotating guests around the bus but it didn't work. I ended up in the same location for most of the time and when the tour was done, I found that there were a number of people I had never sat next to. HIs idea might have worked out had he carried it out. When he asked about a meal I had (and truthfully most guests had a favorable meal but for what ever reason our table did not have a good experience) I told him that my salmon was overcooked. He told me I should have told them how I wanted my salmon cooked (which I have never heard of). He asked my friend how her meal was and she told him that she liked tofu but it was cold. His response was that she should have asked for a sandwich! He never once asked what he could do to make it better. One guest did not have the correct room keys and he told him to talk to someone in the lobby. This was Luxury Gold and I felt it was his job to make it right. There was a lot of grumbling between the guests. Too bad because it could have been a much better tour if the tour director had a different temperament.

Trip: Read previous comments on trip

Service: Bus tour was good but cruise experience was not luxury gold. Holland America needs to upgrade the ship.

Trip: On the land part of the itinerary eliminate Nigeria on the Lake. Stay and have lunch at Nigeria Falls. Take a more direct route to the cities so we can arrive to our destination earlier in the day. We wanted to see more of the cities listed on the itinerary. In Montreal too much time was spent on the church. We needed to have more of an over view of the city of Montreal, especially Old Town and the Olympic Village.

Service: Your tour guide Max needed to manage the schedule better. We were arriving to our hotel too late, having lunch too late, he was not organizing our tours properly.

Trip: All great apart from Anne of Green Gables tour by EXC.

    Service: Loved it.

  • 16 July, 2018

Trip: Comfortable cabin and a pleasant trip on the Maasdam

Service: Excellent tour guide - Heather Andrews.

Trip: Walking the Old Quebec City tour was difficult.

Service: I would recommend Luxury Gold offerings but I have some mobility issues and do not think that the walking over cobblestones in the Old Quebec City tour is safe for handicap people and this was not stated in any description of the tour. Also my friend and I were assigned to rooms with no hot water in Ottawa and Quebec City. (The rooms were at the end of very, very long halls.) We asked for a handicap room in Montreal, were assigned to a room in the middle of a long hall which could hardly be classified as a handicap room, the water was warm, not hot, very low toilet as did the other hotels, and still had a deep bathtub instead of a shower. The treads in the tubs were slippery so I used a towel to cover the slippery surface. The ship had very low toilets, knees above the hips, so if the tub had not been close to pull myself up, I would really have struggled to get up. Heather Andrews was an excellent tour guide, friendly and attentive to everyone's needs and Eugene, the bus driver, was so friendly, helpful and good. The stewards on the ship, Try and Hermann, were excellent too. Overall it was a wonderful trip, met all my expectations and I got to see everything that I wanted to see. I liked the free time that we had as well.

Trip: I felt that many of the points of interest on the tour were not exclusive and shared with crowds of people. visiting Quebec on 2 occasions was not necessary as we were shown the same things and visited the same places as the land component. perhaps another city could replace Quebec or extended times spent in the other cities included in the tour. there was a mix up in our accommodation on the first night which was embarrassing. the tour guide, Heather, rectified the problem for the remainder of the tour

Service: while most of the aspects of the tour were great with an excellent tour guide, coach driver and accommodation, I felt that it didn't quite meet my expectations of a "luxury gold" experience.

Trip: I especially enjoyed the combination of a land tour of the great cities in eastern Canada and a cruise to the Maritimes to view Canada's natural beauty. I wonder, though, why the cruise did not include a stop at New Brunswick.

Service: First-class hotels, dining, tour guides, and optional excursions

  • 07 July, 2018

Trip: The need to run the water at the Frontenac in Quebec for almost 30 minutes to obtain hot water for showering was a disappointment and a waste of water

Service: Service was as good as expected

  • 02 July, 2018

Trip: Loved the richness of the hotels and the unique restaurants plus the down to earth stops for lunch at a market, etc. which made the Canadians cities memorable for me.

Service: They were available to answer phone questions asked by my travel rep.

  • 22 June, 2018

Trip: The tour was almost perfect but we would have like 2 nights in Montreal.

Service: We have been on coach tours before but we thought this is the best we have experienced. The tour guide, Max Donaldson was extremely knowledgeable with a wonderful sense humour who treated all his clients the same. The coach was extremely comfortable and we had a very experienced driver Eugene. The tour was well organized and ran smoothly and gave a relaxed tour.

Trip: Top cities with history galour and enough free time to rest or shop' .

Service: Enjoyed having vouchers for transportation (taxi) as opposed to van or bus service. Large bus for the group was spotless, lots of leg room, comfortable cooling and seats. Tour directors Max was a gem with much insight on cities visited. Wasn't too talkative. Hotels were luxgurative and well located.
